      Jonathan E. Jacobson is the President and CEO of Jacobson Consulting LLC in Arlington, Virginia. Between 2005 and 2025 he was employed at the U. S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES), National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance. While at IES, Dr. Jacobson led national evaluations of special education programs and later served as the Branch Chief for Knowledge Synthesis with responsibility for the What Works Clearinghouse, the Education Resources Information Center, and the National Library of Education. Between 2006 and 2010 he was an adjunct instructor and thesis advisor at Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute.

      Between 1993 and 2005 Dr. Jacobson was a research economist at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., focusing on a range of education and social welfare policy issues. His areas of expertise include the design and
      implementation of program evaluations, statistical analysis methods, simulation modeling, evidence definitions and standards, and the systematic review, synthesis, and translation of research evidence to inform decisions by practitioners and policymakers.

      Dr. Jacobson is a member of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management and the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness and has three decades of experience as a conference presenter and discussant.
