This fall, Minnesota launched North Star Promise with a promise of free tuition, which offers free college tuition to residents with a family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) below $80,000. This initiative includes the state’s four tribal colleges, aiming to make higher education more accessible to Native American students. However, this program does not cover additional expenses such as housing, food, transportation, books, and supplies. This limitation may pose challenges for students, particularly those from Native American communities, in fully benefiting from the program.
