Having spent over a decade teaching internationally in varying types of educational settings, I gained keen interest in the effects of the internationalization of the English language and pedagogy and its intersection with local and indigenous cultures. I have been eager to formally study the impacts educational systems have in differing contexts and, through comparative analyses, contribute to current bodies of research that aid in the preservation and promotion of cultures and languages through educational mediums and reforms. Being a multicultural and multilingual teacher and learner with direct experience in educational systems that do not foster diversities and, instead, reinforce Eurocentric ideologies and power systems, I am an advocate in exposing hierarchical structures that deeply affect the Global South, particularly in Latin America.
