Biography

I am interested in education funding systems, how public policy is shaped, and how political divides at the state level affect both. I am interested in how financial policies address systemic issues and equity in terms of economics and investment dollars. My passion for understanding our education systems comes from my current job of being a 7th grade teacher in St. Paul Public Schools. Previously, I was appointed to the Governor's School Finance Working Group which developed multiple recommendations to improve our education funding system in Minnesota. As a union leader in St. Paul Federation of Educators, I am one of their representatives at both Education Minnesota and the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation. I live in East St Paul with my long time partner, our dog, and two cats.
