Before this appointment, I previously served as an associate vice president in Westat's Education Studies practice area, supervising six to eight highly experienced research staff. I have previously held tenured academic appointments at Indiana University and Ohio University.
My area of expertise is in mixed methods research and program evaluation. I also lead various studies employing randomized controlled trials (RCTs), surveys, and systematic reviews. To date, I worked as a co-principal investigator on four RCTs testing interventions for children with special learning needs, three of which met the U.S. Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) standards, whereas the WWC did not review the fourth study as it was not conducted in the U.S. Additionally, I served as a research director for a U.S. Department of Education Regional Education Lab.
